previous blog, a daily dose of vitamin D is recommended.  Did you also
know that exercising or being more physically active can help fight
off the sadsies during the winter, officially known as SAD, Seasonal
Affective Disorder.  The federal guidelines for exercise are: 150
minutes of moderate activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity each
week, plus strength training twice a week.  You can do it! Get started
NOW! Don't wait.  Balance your diet and balance your life by
incorporating physical activity into your daily routine!"

Happy New Year! Winter time is here and at this time of year we tend to need more vitamin D as we see very little sun in some parts of the country.  Typically 1000 IU of vitamin D is recommended daily as supplementation. It is a good idea to get tested for vitamin D levels through your primary care doctor.  If found to be deficient in vitamin D, your doctor may recommend an increase in the amount of daily supplementation.

Today as we encounter a nice, hot summer day,
it brings to mind the yummy, summer-time fruits available this time of
year.  Now is the time to eat apricots, nectarines, peaches and plums.
 They are prime for the pickin' right now so go for it!  If you can,
buy them from a local market.  Buying from local markets is the best
way to get the juiciest, sweetest stone fruits. These fruits have
carotenoids, potassium, flavonoids and nearly a third of the daily
recommended amount of vitamin C.

"We are all in spring cleaning mode now that Summer is creeping up on us.  Begin Summer with a strong finish on Spring cleaning!  You can make simple changes towards a cleaner diet by:

1.  Eating good fats such as Omega 3s, MUFAs from avocados, and olive oil.
2.  Choose preservative free foods or foods with less chemicals/preservatives in them to minimize challenges to your immune system.
3.  Clean your fresh produce with produce spray/cleaner or you can use a solution of 1/4 cup vinegar in 1 gallon of water.
4.  Eat 3 fruits per day and 2 vegetables per day OR MORE!
5.  Eat a high fiber grain at each meal such as: old fashioned oats at breakfast, whole wheat bread on sandwich at lunch, and a sweet potato at dinner.

These are five simple things you can do to begin changing over to a cleaner diet.  Finish strong with your Spring cleaning!  Start Summer with a pledge to change over to a cleaner diet!"

Well, this is the first blog I have ever done and is the first of many.  The NutriGab website should be up and running and I am so excited.  As you will observe, on www.nutrigab.com Nutrition Health and Wellness info is highlighted.  I have provided more detail in my book that should be available soon.  Waiting to see if publisher is picking it up or if I will be going the self publishing route.  Either way, it will be available in the near future.
